About Me
So you are probably asking yourself who is Sarah Blow? Well you’ve come to the right place.
In short I am a software engineer turned community manager with an active interest in mobile and wireless applications development. I like tech gadgets and challenges. I also dabble from time to time in websites and web design although I would not count this as one of my core strengths. My favourite sport is swimming and my biggest personal challenge at the moment is learning to kayak. i am also an avid rock climber and currently climb around 5-11b/ 5.12 or 6b-7a . I also enjoy scaring myself a bit from time to time by going Kite Surfing.
More recently in the tech industry I have been drawn to web related technologies such as using new media technologies as part of strategies both internally to organisations and externally to improve communications. I enjoy analysing and creating strategies and find this area interesting and exciting. Interestingly I do not have a marketing background however my experience with the Girl Geek Dinners draws me ever closer to mixing my technology skills with marketing and pr skills. More recently I started working with DataSift as their Partner manager looking after and enabling partnerships between DataSift and other external organizations.
I had a technical blog which I used to update when I found I had somthing technical to add to it (which I don’t even know the password for these days). However most of what I write about these days can be found elsewhere on GirlGeekdom and this blog. On this blog you will find my latest findings and interests. I also founded the London Girl Geek Dinners in April 2005 which I further extended to Girl Geek Dinners later the same year. In August 2009 I handed over the reigns for the London Girl Geek Dinners to a local team to concentrate further on the international Girl Geek Dinners. More information on this can be found on the respective websites. I was made a Women’s Enterprise Ambassador in 2007 and am also part of Make Your Mark as a connector and an ambassador to them also.
From time to time I do talk at events on both social media and technology related subjects and it’s something that I enjoy doing but to do so does take up a fair bit of time so I choose to only speak at events that have the ability and desire to inspire others.
You will find me online on Twitter, LinkedIn and many more places.
